The City of Montréal and the Government of Québec Support Printemps numérique
The City of Montréal and the Government of Québec announced on January 13 that they would support the 3rd edition of Printemps numérique (PN) with funding of $250,000. This investment strengthens efforts to promote Montréal’s distinctiveness as a world capital of digital creativity. PN welcomes this financial support, which confirms the importance of developing and encouraging this major, fast-growing event. Yvan Thériault, president of PN, thanked these public bodies for their vote of confidence in a project that is important for Montréal. Stakeholders in the field are joining forces to promote digital creativity and to position the metropolis as a digital hub. Mayor Denis Coderre stated that it is essential to support this leading driver of development. For Robert Poëti, minister responsible for the greater Montréal region, PN generates benefits and contributes to Montréal’s international reputation. PN, which is becoming a non-profit
organization, will soon announce the members of its board of directors. Montréal is the capital of digital arts in North America. It ranks third in the world for video-game production and is the fourth-largest global hub for the visual-effects industry. No other city can claim a better combined ranking across these three fields. A major event on the Montréal scene, Printemps numérique is held every year from March 21 to June 21 in Montréal. Born of an unprecedented collective effort, Printemps numérique works to develop and promote Montréal digital creativity. Digital artists, event producers, industry, the scientific community, media and institutional stakeholders join together each year to create this unique force. There is still time to register for the
next edition using this link. During the second edition, more than 280,000 people took part in 150 digital-creativity activities: conferences on visual effects, video games and virtual reality, interactive spaces, visual performances, leading-edge electronic music, immersive experiences, 3D productions, studio tours, screenings and
public installations. Printemps numérique is supported by ConcertationMontréal, the City ofMontréal, Tourisme Montréal and La Vitrine, and isproduced in association with the newspaper Métro.
