the festival’s identity: risk-taking, immersion, sound explorationand encounters between artists and audiences. MUTEK has long been a platform where local and international creators can present demanding, inventive and often surprising works. The finale highlighted the diversity of approaches within electronic and digital arts, from dancefloor energy to more contemplative, experimental forms. It also reminded audiences of Montréal’s place in the global network offestivals devoted to new forms of audiovisual creation. For participants, the event was both a celebration and a conclusion, the point at which discoveries made throughout the week could resonate together. MUTEK once again showed that digital culture can be festive, rigorous, open and deeply connected to the city.
