There is a good chance that your favourite films contain visual effects produced in the metropolis. Last year alone, 12,000 visual-effects shots were created for 45 foreign productions. Deadpool, The Revenant, The Martian and many others required months of work. Artists from studios here and elsewhere are gathered at effects MTL, the largest international conference on the American East Coast dedicated to visual effects and animation. Montréal is the world’s 4th-largest hub for visual effects, with annual growth of 25% in recent years, and it is not about to stop, according to event director Marine Lelièvre. She estimates that the industry in Montréal will grow by 80% by 2020. Montréal is becoming an international leader, and recruitment and trainingare the keys to supporting this growth. After the exclusive screening of X-Men Apocalypse, which brought together 300 people to hear secrets revealed

by the blockbuster’s team, here are today’s must-see conferences. Game of Thrones:

the secrets behind the creation of the city of Volantis. Four artists from the Rodeo FX team will present the steps behind the creation of Volantis as it appeared in season 5 of Game of Thrones. From the design phase to final integration, the work will be presented in detail with many exclusive photos and videos. The Volantis environment received a Visual Effects Society Award in February in the category for best created environment in a television series. This prize follows the one Rodeo FX received

Game of Thrones

last year for its work on the film Birdman. Virtual reality and augmented reality:

However, the interchangeability and convergence of this mutualization are still slow to materialize, resulting more in cross-pollination than in a true technological crossover, the process desired by these industries. With the arrival of virtual reality and augmented reality, the entire creative process must be completely rethought and redefined,
