The #Jeunesse375MTL Summit took place at the Science Centre at the beginning of the month. The

19 ambassadors from Montréal’s boroughs, accompanied by more than 200 young people aged 12to

30, gathered to reinvent Montréal and share their dreams loudly and proudly. Youth is an integral part of Montréal’s 375th anniversary celebrations. Since last November, the 19

designated ambassadors have crisscrossed the city to consult residents and gather the ideas that fed the

summit’s reflections. The summit unfolded in a colourful, festive atmosphere. The Science Centre floor prepared for the occasion, with Karibu seating and colourful cushions, offered an inviting space

for discussion, creation and consultation. In

the spirit of an open forum, participants moved among workshops, exchanges and collaborative activities designed toimagine theMontréalof tomorrow. The young participants spoke about mobility, culture,

the

environment, inclusion, public spaces, employment and the city’s digital future. Their ideas showed a strong desire to take part in decisions that shape their neighbourhoods and their metropolis. The ambassadors’ role was to carry these dreams and transform them into concrete proposals. The event made it clear that young Montrealers do not simply want to

be

consulted; they want to act, build and contribute. By giving them a platform, #Jeunesse375MTL allowed youth to express a generous, creative and ambitious vision of the city. Montréal’s

375th anniversary therefore becomes not only a

celebration of the past, but also an opportunity to imagine the future with the generation that

will live

it.
