Umeda followed with Split Flow and Holistic Strata, two striking and atypical choreographies immersed in an experimental electronic soundtrack. Omnis was a powerful audiovisual experience. Between laser-like visuals, rhythm, sound, movement and abstraction, the performance suggested the creation of a

in real time. The artists seemed to manipulate digital matter like a living environment, turning code and sound into a

shared landscape.

Hiroaki Umeda’s works pushed the experience further by placing the body at the centre of an intense relationship between light, sound and perception. The choreography did

not

simply accompany the visuals; it seemed to embody them. The dancer became a point of energy inside a storm of digital signals. A/VISIONS 1 offered a moment where creators appeared almost godlike, shaping universes made of light, sound and motion. The evening confirmed MUTEK’s ability to present demanding, immersive and spectacular forms of digital performance.
