Printemps Numérique

A few weeks ago, ICI ARTV announced good news for digital-creation professionals. As part ofPrintemps numérique, the cultural channel launched a grant

Vitrine interactive ARTVstudio

program to encourage digital creation. Four grants worth $5,000 each will be awarded to organizations, collectives or artists whose applications stand out. The selected works will be

displayed

in the interactive showcase, a touch screen accessible at all times at ARTVstudio in the heart of Place des Arts.

Because of the technical properties and geographical location of the interactive showcase, the works presented must offer an interactive experience

and be able

to engage audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Works may have been shown previously, but only to a limited audience, for example in a festival, event or exhibition. Participants have until June 13 to

submit their

application. The winning works will be chosen by a jury of five representatives from ICI ARTV and the digital-arts and multimedia communities. The namesof the winners will be announced by the end

of July. The chosen works will then be displayed in turn in the ARTVstudio interactive showcase for a minimum period of eight weeks so the general public can discover them.

The

jury includes Luc Courchesne, jury chair and pioneer of digital arts, whose interactive portraits and immersive-experience systems have earned awards. He is co-director of the Metalab at the Société des arts technologiques, honorary professor at Université de Montréal and member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. Marie-Michèle Cron has worked as a critic and curator in contemporary art for fifteen years in Montréal and is now a cultural advisor in visual and digital arts at the Conseil des arts de Montréal. Mélissa Mongiat co-founded the interaction-design studio DTLJ, whose projects give the public a meaningful role and have been presented and awarded around the world. Raphael Lacoste, trained in fine arts and comics, began at Ubisoft, worked in film, and returned to Ubisoft as artistic director of the

Assassin’s Creed franchise. Jonathan

Harnois, trained in film and multimedia, has more than ten years’ experience as a director, editor and 2D animator and works with ICI ARTV’s creative team.

The ARTVstudio interactive showcase was launched in December 2011 after ARTV created the ARTVRAMA mobile app with geolocated video content. The showcase was designed to give passersby at Place desArts access to this content. From
